Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp expects to complete Peter Crouch's move from Liverpool on Friday and can't wait to see the England striker in action alongside Jermain Defoe.
Redknapp agreed a fee of around 11 million pounds (13.8 million euros) for Crouch earlier this week and the forward will be unveiled at Fratton Park on Friday after a medical.
Crouch is likely to partner fellow England international Defoe in the Portsmouth attack and Redknapp believes they can help the team build on last season's FA Cup success.
“Crouchie is obviously a quality player, he will be a fantastic signing for us. He's a good lad as well, him and Jermain together can be exciting,” he told The News.
“I'm not looking for any more strikers now, that will be it for that position.
“If Crouchie comes I will be very happy with what I've got. I've always said I wanted four or five strikers to choose from. Last year we didn't have that.
“I don't want any of them to leave now. If you are competing in the UEFA Cup as well there are a lot of matches, we need strength in depth and these players give that.”
