Harry Redknapp plans to continue his squad-rebuilding programme with the addition of Chelsea winger Shaun-Wright Phillips. And, according to The Telegraph, he is planning to sell as many as seven of his fringe players to raise money to by the former Manchester City player.
“When you start talking about the type of players we are trying to bring in, no disrespect to Djimi Traore, but his money doesn’t buy you Wright-Phillips,” said Redknapp according to a report in The Telegraph.
“You would like to have him for sure, but he’s good money and at the moment we haven’t got that. We need to find the money if we’re going to finance a deal.
“Business is business. If you want to get a couple more in now we have got to generate money.”
Djimi Traore, former Arsenal defender Lauren and David Nugent are among the seven players that are reportedly on the outs at Fratton Park. The report also claims that Shaun-Wright Phillips would cost Redknapp £8 million.
