No regrets for Bournemouth’s Junior Stanislas

Former England youth international Junior Stanislas believes he made the right decision to leave Burnley in favour of joining Bournemouth in the summer.

Former England youth international Junior Stanislas believes he made the right decision to leave Burnley in favour of joining Bournemouth in the summer.

Stanislas, 24, helped Burnley win promotion to the English Premier League last season, but–somewhat shockingly–turned down the offer of a new deal.

Ultimately, the 24-year-old winger signed for the Cherries on a free transfer, leaving Burnley without any real pace in wide areas.

The Clarets’ lack of pace has proved to be an insurmountable burden for the top-flight newcomers.

The Lancashire-based club have scored just one goal through six league matches, and are subsequently in 19th place in the league table. Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United are rock bottom.

“In terms of where Burnley are, you can’t judge them too harshly because they have had some tough games,” Stanislas told the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

“But in terms of my own personal decision, I’m happy. I’ve been starting games and coming on the pitch.

“I’ve only not come on once when I’ve been on the bench.

“I think I’ve contributed towards the team and how we’ve played. My decision was solely based on football reasons and playing, and I’ve had that opportunity so far, so I can’t complain.”

Although Stanislas joined Bournemouth for increased first-team opportunities, he knows he still faces competition to get into the side week in and week out.

“As much as you want to play every single game, you have got to respect and appreciate what others around you can do as well,” added the former West Ham United player.

“It can be difficult if you are trying to put a run of games together but you to look at it from a team point of view.”

Stanislas has bagged one goal in 11 competitive appearances for Bournemouth this season.

 Kamara training with Wolves

Free agent striker Kei Kamara has been training with Wolverhampton Wanderers this week, according to the club’s manager Kenny Jackett.

The Sierra Leone international, formerly of Norwich City, left Middlesbrough at the end of August, and it currently without a club.

Wolves manager Kenny Jackett may be looking to add Kamara, as the club–currently in third-place in the Championship–look for another goal-scoring threat.

“He is an experienced front player and having left Middlesbrough on August 30th he is looking for a club,” Jackett told Wolves’ official website.

“We will be talking to him and there will be some summing up afterwards as to where he is.

“But he’s a free agent looking for a club and has been to us for two days, which was the original agreement.

“He’s done OK, and from finding out about his overall situation, he would need a work permit because he’s a Sierra Leone international.”

Wolves have scored fewer goals (11) than any other side in the top-8 in England’s second-tier this season.
