Pepe Reina believes Brendan Rodgers will need time to implement his style of football at Liverpool.

The Northern Irishman led Swansea City to an 11th-place finish in their debut Premier League campaign last season, and received numerous plaudits for the attractive brand of football the Swans displayed.

Liverpool’s goalkeeper – currently at Euro 2012 with Spain – said he is looking forward to working with his new boss and is excited by the possibility of Liverpool playing in a similar style to Swansea, but the 31-year-old added the transition in tactical approach will take time.

“I’m looking forward to going back to Liverpool,” Reina told the club’s official website.

“I am very optimistic about the future. It is a good appointment and, hopefully, Liverpool can have a better season than they did last time.

“I watched quite a bit of Swansea last season and I always like my teams to play like that.

“It is my style and one that will be very good for Liverpool but he is going to need time to implement his ideas. It is not going to happen in the blink of an eye.”
