Newcastle United have reportedly finalised a deal to bring young Australian defender Curtis Good to the English Premier League club.
According to English press reports, Good’s A-League club Melbourne Heart have been paid 386,000 pounds for the 19-year-old.
Good played 25 times for Heart last season, starting 19 matches as the Melbourne-based club made the A-League finals for the first time.
The left-footed central defender was a constant feature in the Heart’s back four having joined the club from the Australian Institute of Sport.
Good impressed during a two-week trial at Newcastle after the end of the A-League season and while negotiations have taken time, a deal always looked likely.
Melbourne Heart have now sold two of their key youngsters prior to the 2012-13 A-League season with striker Eli Babalj already at Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.
Newcastle, who finished fifth in the Premier League last season, are also apparently in the market for Twente striker Luuk de Jong, Eindhoven forward Ola Toivanen and France international full-back Mathieu Debuchy.
