Report: West Ham´s Jarvis bid failure

West Ham have had a bid for Wolves winger Matt Jarvis rejected, according to reports.

Hammers manager Sam Alladyce is said to be an admirer of the 26-year-old midfielder and Sky Sports claim that a four-million-pound offer for the former Gillingham man has been knocked back by Wolves, who were relegated to the Championship last season.

Jarvis is one of Wolves’ highest profile players and became the first since Steve Bull in 1990 to be capped by England when he made his debut against Ghana last year.

Wolves manager Stale Solbakken is looking to build a squad capable of an immediate return to the top flight, and interest in the club’s best talent will not be welcome.

Jarvis, who has played more than 150 times for the club since his arrival in 2007, has a contract until 2015 but is likely to be of interest to Premier League clubs this transfer period.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has admitted that he expects to receive calls regarding his club’s top players, but that he is relishing the battle to keep them at the club.

“We are not naive. We know clubs will want our best players but we are ready to do battle with anyone. In some ways, there’s nothing I enjoy more,” Moxey told the Express and Star.
