Ricardo Carvalho set for Porto homecoming

Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola understands that FC Porto have emerged as favourites to recruit veteran defender Ricardo Carvalho.

The Dragons are ready to offer the 38-year-old an opportunity to return to Estadio do Dragao, some 12 years since he left to join Chelsea.

Carvalho has since also represented Real Madrid and Monaco, and is now a free agent after his contract with the Principality club came to an end.

FC Porto officials have informed the experienced footballer of their interest and the ball is now in the defender’s court.

It was at Estadio do Dragao that Carvalho had begun his professional career, and he made a perfect farewell to the club, helping them win the first ever Champions League trophy.

The Portugal international has since enjoyed plenty of success with Chelsea and Real Madrid, and he was part of the team that won the Euro 2016 finals earlier this summer.
