River Plate have announced on their official website that they have completed the signing of Milton Casco from Newell’s Old Boys.

The highly rated defender arrived at the club after representing Argentina in an international friendlies on United States soil, signing a three year contract.

Casco is now tipped to make his River Plate debut in the Superclasico match against Boca Juniors, the club that were also interested in his services.

The 27 year old was heavily linked with a summer move to Marseille, but the deal eventually fell through as Marcelo Bielsa left Stade Velodrome.

Casco has, therefore, missed out on an opportunity to move to Europe, but there are no doubts a new one will soon present itself if he continues with impressive showings.

The experienced defender made his first two appearances for Argentina national team in international friendlies against Bolivia, played in June and September this year.
