Arjen Robben will miss Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga clash with Ingolstadt this weekend.
The Netherlands international has been sidelined for Bayern’s last three games – against Hertha Berlin and Borussia Monchengladbach in the league and Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League – with muscular problems.
And in his pre-Ingolstadt news conference ahead of Saturday’s game, Bayern head coach Pep Guardiola confirmed that Robben would be absent once again.
“He misses tomorrow, but for the other games, a use is not excluded,” said Guardiola.
Guardiola’s announcement comes on the same day the club confirmed both Franck Ribery and Medhi Benatia would be out until the new year, also with muscular issues.
“This is very bitter for the players,” Guardiola added. “We need these players. We have lost two important players.”
Bayern lost their unbeaten record in Bundesliga with last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Gladbach, but will still be widely expected to overcome mid-table Ingolstadt at the Allianz Arena.
“So soon after a Champions League game, it’s always hard,” Guardiola continued.
“Our opponents tomorrow are defensively very strong.
“Ingolstadt have only conceded a few goals. They may not score many, but they have a good mentality.
“But it depends on our intensity.”
