Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto has praised the club’s youth policy.
The 20-year-old featured for the full 90 minutes in Barca’s 0-0 Champions League draw against Benfica on Wednesday, and said playing for the first team always gives him something extra.
“It’s good that so many Barca B players are getting chances because it shows things are being done right and that the first team coaches have faith in the young players,” Roberto told Barca TV.
“We always go out with a special attitude when we play for the first team, that’s why we try to do our very best for the whole match.”
The promising youngster also had his say on Lionel Messi’s injury-scare against Benfica, and hopes the Argentine will return shortly from his knee problem.
“It’s not normal for him to leave the field on a stretcher, but he’s a strong player and we hope he recovers quickly,” he added.
Roberto has made three official appearances for Barca this term.
