Today’s Mirror made me chuckle with its story about Manchester City’s Robinho. They suggest that the harsh economic times are affecting even the high earners.
Apparently, Robinho, rumoured to be earning £92,000-a-week, went shopping last week in the famous Harvey Nichols store. He bought clothes to the value of £700 but then allegedly queued up for twenty-five minutes to sign up for a store card that gave him 50% off his purchases.
My first reaction was to chuckle but then I thought, ‘why shouldn’t he?’
