Universidad de Chile defender Jose Rojas is considering legal action against Botafogo over a failed move to the Brazilian club.
Rojas had agreed a permanent switch to Botafogo earlier this month, only to see his hopes of playing in the Brazilian Serie A fall apart during the medical.
Botafogo doctors claim to have discovered a previously undetected heart condition, causing the club to withdraw their interest.
Speaking on Thursday, Rojas’ representative Mauricio Valenzuela categorically rejected the medical report and hinted at a possible lawsuit for breach of promise.
“It is a subject that we will have to analyse in depth alongside Pepe (Rojas),” Valenzuela told Radio Cooperativa.
“Thanks to God, all of the medical exams he underwent in Chile showed that he was perfectly healthy to play football.”
“I believe the case merits further investigation, to see if we will start legal action against Botafogo.”
“We are upset because the exams were not carried out properly. Naturally, we feel mistreated by a rushed and poorly judged decision on the part of Botafogo.”
Rojas, 28, made his debut for Universidad in 2003, winning the Chilean Clausura and Apertura championships, as well as the Copa Sudamericana, in 2011.
