The Serie A side want to bring him back to his homeland and could tempt the Magpies with a bid in the New Year. Santon was heavily linked with a move away from the club during the summer, but in the end stayed in the north-east.
The 21-year-old really struggled last season in the English Premier League, which sparked doubts about his future at Newcastle.
However, he has been an ever present for Alan Pardew’s men this campaign and seems to be really enjoying his football at the Sports Direct Arena.
Santon looks as though he is a player that will benefit from playing football and gaining confidence and he could go on to have a fantastic campaign.
That said though, a move to Roma could really tempt him as it is a chance to return to Italy. Much is sure to depend on his form between now and the January transfer window. If he stays fit, happy and puts in good performances – he is sure to stay at Newcastle.
It could be a very interesting story to keep an eye on.
