Roma launch fresh assault on Santon

AS Roma are ready to reignite their interest in Newcastle full-back Davide Santon, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Giallorossi have signed Kostas Manolas to replace Mehdi Benatia, and it appears they are now turning their focus towards right-back reinforcements.

La Gazzetta dello Sport has suggested that Davide Santon, Matteo Darmian and Rafael are all on their wish list.

It is no secret that Roma are keen on the Newcastle defender, who continues to be linked with a return to Italian Serie A.

And while he is currently sidelined through injury, the former Italy international remains an important player at St James’ Park, meaning it would take a substantial offer to lure him to Stadio Olimpico.

Santon, 23, who joined Newcastle from Inter Milan some three years ago, has so far made 72 Premier League appearances for the Magpies, and he remains in high regard among top Serie A sides.
