Ron Vlaar cools off transfer talk

Dutch defender Ron Vlaar has rubbished speculation suggesting that he is unhappy at Aston Villa after missing out on a summer move away from the club.

With his contract due to expire at the end of the season and the player largely impressing at the 2014 World Cup, the 29-year-old was widely tipped to join a top European club in the summer transfer window.

However, Vlaar ultimately remained at Villa Park, but he is adamant he holds no regrets over the failed summer move.

“I don’t feel disappointed”, the Netherlands international told Helden Magazine. “I have always maintained that I am enjoying myself at Villa and that is still true.”

And even though he has yet to enter talks over a new deal at Villa Park, Vlaar has suggested that he is fully focused on his job at the club.

“I just want to keep giving my best here.”

Ron Vlaar has been in fine form since arriving from Feyenoord two years back, amassing 62 Premier League appearances for the Villans, while making seven outings for Oranje at the 2014 World Cup.
