Ronald Zubar set to join New York Red Bulls

New York Red Bulls are on the verge of completing a deal for Ajaccio centre back Ronald Zubar, L’Equipe has suggested.

The former Wolverhampton defender has agreed to join the MLS side on a two-year deal with an option for a further season.

The transfer should be made official by the end of the day, subject to the player passing a medical.

Ronald Zubar, 29, began his career at Caen and spent five years playing for the senior team before joining giants Marseille.

The centre back remained at Stade Velodrome for three years, making 72 league appearances and scoring 2 goals.

A three and a half year spell with Wolverhampton was next for the experienced defender, while he has spent last two years with Ajaccio.

His former club Wolverhampton face Bolton on the road on Saturday, and the Molineux outfit can be backed at 9/5 to claim maximum points and edge closer to the promotion places.
