Ronaldo backs Mourinho blast

Cristiano Ronaldo has echoed the criticism of Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, bemoaning Barcelona’s favourable treatment by referees.

Los Blancos suffered a 2-0 loss to their bitter La Liga rivals in their Champions League semi-final first leg at the Bernabeu, and now have a mammoth task on their hands as they look to overturn the deficit away at Camp Nou next Tuesday.

Real’s world-record signing Ronaldo supported manager Jose Mourinho’s sentiments about the reigning Spanish champions’ fortunes with refereeing decisions in crucial games.

“It’s always the same with them (Barcelona),” Ronaldo said. “This is the fourth consecutive season that something like this has happened.”

“(Jose) Mourinho is right, just look at what happened with Arsenal, Chelsea and Inter. They (Barcelona) are a fantastic team, but they also have a lot of influence, both on and off the pitch.”

The former Manchester United star’s comments followed Mourinho’s sensational post-match rant in which he accused the match officials of handing Barcelona preferential officiating.

“I don’t understand why Barcelona have this power. It happened two years ago to Chelsea (in the 2009 semi-finals), almost to my Inter last year, and also to Arsenal this year,” Mourinho said.

“Why do the opponents of Barcelona always have a man sent off? Where does this power come from? Maybe it is to give more publicity to UNICEF, maybe because of the power of (Spanish federation president Jose Angel) Villar in UEFA.”

Mourinho, try to understand.Barca players are favored by God because they are obedient and they do not brag about themselves.Unlike you and your team.

I thought highly of Mourinho until the past few games. Great coaches are gracious in defeat but it seems there are still a few principles the Special One will have to re-learn.

Guardiola had never said or acted untoward ,so it was quite disappointing to see such comments from the Special One. He just went too far.

I applaud Pep for keeping a level head, that’s what principled people do.

Embrace the challenge! It’s one thing to be upset that you lost…but to come out with conspiracy theories as to why you lost is not professional…accept that the best team won for whatever reason, get back in to training and serve ’em up next season…nothing is going to change, so Real Madrid need to make the changes to help them overcome…for starters, never fukn play Ronaldo as a lone striker – what a waste of talent that decision has proven to be…

@chelseafan, let me quote your statement “accept that the best team won for whatever reason” …. and that reason would be, BARCA GOT HELP FROM OFFICIALS. simple as that. it’s just hard to understand why people who saw all the replay and who’s been watching football for a long time that they couldn’t accept that there was cheating involved.

I don’t get it, they wouldn’t need help from the judges.

You know why people get sent out meeting barcelona? Because Bercelona Always has the ball, gets the opposition nervous, after a while they get so kranky they Must have the ball, then they tackle uncrollably, and boom a red card, fully understandable.

And that Barcelona is better than Real Madrid, is a fact, none can deny that one.

@cloud…Belieive me, I understand your frustration but cheating is the wrong word to describe what happened…See Eddie’s comment…I think that’s more accurate. Yes – there was help from the Refs, but that’s only b/c Real were looking to break some legs. As for all the diving, c’mon, Ronaldo gets the same star treatment. Real were just frustrated that they couldn’t touch the ball…disallowing Higuain’s goal was a bad decision – not like it’s unheard of tho…shit happens. and, in the event that the refs are actually helping Barcelona to win games, then that’s just the way the world turns today… Read more »
