Cristiano Ronaldo says Real Madrid must stand united to record another victory against Valencia on Sunday.
There have been rumours of a disagreement between Jose Mourinho and his star player after their 2-0 Copa del Rey win over Valencia last week, but Ronaldo took to Twitter last night to say he was concentrating on the rematch in La Liga between the two teams.
“Thinking about tomorrow’s game. Together we can do it. Hala Madrid!” he wrote.
Despite Ronaldo’s own fine form, Real Madrid are struggling in La Liga this season and will likely surrender their title to Barcelona, who are well clear of the chasing pack despite their loss at Real Sociedad on Saturday.
Rumours of friction between the players and Mourinho have been rife all season, and Ronaldo was said to have had a confrontation with the coach in the aftermath of the cup match, although that incident has since been downplayed.
The game with Valencia is the second of three clashes between the two sides in a week, with the second leg of their Copa del Rey quarter-final coming up on Tuesday.
