Christiano ronaldo is a great player when he plays against club like newcastle or westBrom, when it comes to team like chelsea and barcelona,ac milan,he gets missin.compare to the like of messi, kaka and ronaldinho they have quality.when it comes to national team he performs fairly.so i think casillas or messi is worth it even torres is still better off

  2. CRISTIAN RONALDO on October 30th, 2008 9:33

in this football friternity, ther’s so much to consider when nominating players for certain categories.based on modern football, the mens rea requirements are the speed ,tempo, creativity, tactical awereness, positioning, vision and both the movement on and off the ball.
speaking of my mind, there’s only 3 players that gualifies for this category and the nominees are,CHRISTIAN RONALDO(MAN UNITED AND PORTUGAL)LEONEL MESSI(BARCELONA AND ARGENTINA) KAKA(AC MILAN AND BRAZIL)on top of this big three,Ronaldo looks as the favourite due to his abilities, but overcomes Lionel messi due to his abilty to score goals.

  3. sam on October 30th, 2008 11:25

i strongly believe that fifa best player nominees are well selected and i tip cristiano ronaldo the winner.

  4. tare on October 30th, 2008 15:24

i prefer messi for the award, because messi can pass any body with th eball on pitch is not affraid unlike ronaldo when playing little teams thats when he shows what he have, but bigger team he doesn’t play anything so i prefer messi for the award

  5. Mike on October 30th, 2008 21:28

You can not compare messi to ronaldo, messi stands out in all the player we have now, there is no one like him,so to me he worth the award no one else for the golden boot.

  6. Popsney on October 31st, 2008 3:48

I tip messi 4 d award. messi got all it takes 2 b name as the winner of this year award except his goal scoring ability. But not withstanding he work mathematics 4 goal and even scores.

  7. Kaycee from nigeria. on November 23rd, 2008 9:41

    Ronaldo deserve d award.

  8. tjay on November 26th, 2008 10:37

    Ronaldo is da Man

  9. ViVa_RoNalDo on November 26th, 2008 13:00

1st. Ronaldo 2nd. Messi 3rd. Torres - Thats all i have to say. Ronaldo will be the player of the year. The others aren’t really deserving of the top spot. As for Messi, he will reach his peak one day. I believe he will win the Fifa player of the year someday.

  10. bukulu umar on December 2nd, 2008 9:15

    To me
I think the best player award must go to Lionel Messi.
Because Renaldo was only fortunate that the team where he is won two important trophies.
But when you critically look at him in crucial matches he does not show up.
For example big teams like barcelona, arsenal, chelsea,ac milan and others he completely get lost, but when he comes to weaker teams that’s when he shows up.

  11. Chris on December 2nd, 2008 14:31

He isn’t that kind of player anymore. In the champions league final, who scored the opening goal for united? Ronaldo. And its against chelsea, mind you. He also scored against Arsenal in the EPL last season. So what are you talking about? And btw, who’s Renaldo?

  12. James kalu on December 3rd, 2008 7:59

I prefer messi, but ronaldos’ contribution to his club to wonderful

  13. TIJANI WOLE on December 4th, 2008 14:58

there is no comparison among them one is better than one,to be more clearer ronaldo is the man while messi is just a boy.judging from last season ronaldo owns that trophy, messi second, casillas third and thats final.

  14. Fran6 on December 8th, 2008 9:38

Ronaldo has work hard 4 dis award & we all show it messi still need to work harder.1-ronldo,2-messi,3-anyother person.

  15. Rich on December 9th, 2008 14:20

For me Ronaldo is to wonderful, and he derved to be crown as fifa best player of 2008

  16. ETIM on December 10th, 2008 12:56

RONALDO WIL TAKE D CROWN.PEOPLE SHLD NT BE BIASED.HE WORKED REALY HARD LAST SEASON.MESSI IS COMIN UP.HIS TIME HAS NT COM

  17. Tope on December 12th, 2008 20:01

What are we still agueing about.the rell man for this award is nobody but lionel messi.messi is an awesome player,he perform more than cronaldo.messi know how to handle the ball,he is unstopable.

  18. Solarcity on December 13th, 2008 23:52

To me i prefer nobody else than christian ronaldo bcos he contributed great impact to man u success last season

  19. Solarcity on December 14th, 2008 0:04

I hav’nt seeing anybody given me reason why christian ronaldo should not be name as world player to me is the right man no one else

  20. Moses on December 15th, 2008 11:59

Messi is d world best player of d year anyother person(ronaldo, casillas, torres etc….)are all counterfit.

  21. Moses on December 15th, 2008 12:15

When ronaldo plays against teams like( fulham,Aston villa etc…)he is a skillful player, but when he faces a team like barcelona, and Asenal he is just a player that is running all around d field.compare to messi that is always a skillful player no matter d opposition.

  22. nixon on December 16th, 2008 12:52

i don’t like Ronaldo, yes he’s very good but he is also very selfish and a bad example
to youngsters. I think messi and gerrard also have a good chance

  23. Marcos on December 17th, 2008 0:29

I think Ronaldo should be the winner no mater what he is the best of the best youngster but some problems about him is when there is a chance he dose not take a chance for goal its only fancy or trick over trick second may be messi because he young but getting old and don’t work good as he use to and third might be any one

  24. YOMI on December 17th, 2008 17:01

Lets look at this issue critically who worth the award, i think its LIONEL MESSI, bcos if hes on the pitch he must play skillfully, awesomelly and gorgeously and also contribute to goals or score himself. He plays fine in both Small match and big match, if he’s not in a match u will know that he’s not on the pitch, he dribbles without a mistake, hes also hard to attack. So LIONEL MESSI worth the award and the second is C. RONALDO and third is Cassilas 4TH is xavi , 5th is TORRES.

  25. Paul on December 18th, 2008 5:29

Mess messi messi. Blah blah blah. You bastards. This Award is based on pure achievement, and messi hasn’t achieved much last season, although he was playing very well. Based on sheer achievement, i find it hard to accept an argument for anyone other than Cristiano Ronaldo. You see, to have scored so many goals in this calender year is a mammoth feat, but for a player who is not a striker, his achievement stands out over a decade of accomplishements, and not merely this year alone.

  26. Tricky 08 on December 19th, 2008 1:30

Dis is thick it shud hav been xavi, cos hes an all round great player, nd even tho ronaldo is d best winger in the word (aparantly) he couldnt cross a street let a lone a ball, ha he cant even catch a ball

  27. ugonna okwuka on December 19th, 2008 13:04

yes i know ronaldo deserves the award this time, but if he wins it of which i know he is going to win, he will be like the worst ever world footballer of the year. i said this because any body who was ever tiped to be the world footballer of the year following the past records, his presence will always draw atention at every match even if the team they play against is strong or weak, or even if the match is crutial or non-crutial

  28. Sam aralu on December 22nd, 2008 9:00

I think messi deserves d award,he always differentiates himself in every match not minding d club involved. But ronaldo only shows himself when playing with small clubs like west brom, sunderland etc.

  29. John on December 22nd, 2008 17:10

Hey you two, sam and okwuka, i think you two needs some brain check. Ronaldo has already proved time and time again that he’s also a big time player, most notably the champions lge final. He scored the opening goal against chelsea, and chelsea sure damn is a big club. And okwuka, worst ever world footballer of the year? Wth? Reading your comment, i assume you’re saying ronaldo dosen’t draw much attention when he is playing. You dumb or what? Don’t you notice the commentators always saying ‘Ronaldo and co. or Ronaldo and rooney runs riot again’ this kinda thing? You two should really watch some football before you critcise a player like ronaldo, heck, any player.

  30. Muyiwa on December 23rd, 2008 6:35

Yes,for me i tip messi for the crown bcos messi is a great player any time is on the field he work very hard and play nicely

  31. adewale on December 23rd, 2008 18:09

i think messi is the world best

  32. Uchenna on December 24th, 2008 11:41

C Ronaldo has worked hard in order to win the player of d year, he shouldn’t be denied that, its his RIGHT

  33. lovemore on January 2nd, 2009 9:02

me i think C Ronaldo is the best is working hard

  34. rahina on January 2nd, 2009 9:39

messi is the best player at this time!!
there’s no place for ronaldo couse he weak player….
    bravo messi!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. K on January 5th, 2009 0:06

    Ronaldo is d best

  36. Dipo on January 5th, 2009 0:23

Why dont we stop all dis sentiments. We all know this award is based on individual’s ability and if u have 2 use dis,u will know ronaldo is d best. Take a look at it dis way-1. He scores more than messi 2. He can play setpiece than messi 3. He has shoot power than messi 4.he has speed 5. He is more skillfull 6. He uses his head 2 score sometimes bcos of his jump power and height of which messi lacks. Mere considering dis, i think ronaldo really deserves it

  37. Ikeh frank on January 5th, 2009 13:01

C Ronado is morethan da best, messi wait 4 ur time 2009,u will be da best then.

  38. AHMED.T on January 7th, 2009 0:54

WELL WITH DOUGHT THAT RONALDO IS BEST PLAYER ON PLANET,

  39. samson on January 9th, 2009 0:37

It is a known fact that you can be fortunate to be in a team that win a trophy but i think that dont qualifies you to be the best.though C Ronaldo was only fortunate to be in a team that win the league and the champions league but he is not wolthy the best player in the world.he only show up trickfully during a match against a non great team.i think an hero should be there any day any time to prove his outstandimess.messi is a kind of player that is uncomparable with.he has everyhting more than ronaldo.he dribbles like a ghost, move like a flash light and display his skills like a thonder.he is presently the best player on the globe.he prove his ability in all matches he appear not withstanding the opponent level of playing.you can confirm that against the duo of man u,getafe, chelsea, madrid and other host of big football club.messi is the best in the world,no doubt about that.

  40. Abel (navy town) on January 9th, 2009 8:23

D reason y am choosin ronaldo, is bcos of d titles he won wit his club.but individual skils, i wil prefer messi.d guy(messi) is a great player wit his abilities 2 beat any defender.pls watch d match btw manUtd $ barca, n judge btw d both players.

  41. Slybongo on January 9th, 2009 9:33

I think Ronaldo should win this awrd. Take a look at this; Best player in the English premiership, Highest goal scorer eventhogh he is not a striker, Best fans player, highest scorer in Champions league, helping his team to win both premiership and Champions league and Qualifying portugal to Euro 2008. Messi can’t match this record. Ronaldo is Phenominal no matter what. Last season was his season. Shame on all you haters.

  42. Hamza on January 9th, 2009 13:11

Ronaldo is the best,if u look at it when it comes to award individually he has got it.compare to messi,2 pfa and others.2 premier league back 2 back and a champions league trophy and being the high goal scorer in the 2 league.which is the surely makes him the best.

  43. A.N.M. Mahtabul Islam Tutul on January 11th, 2009 7:40

Messi is the world best player. He is best for his club along with his country. He is the player who proved his skill inspite of his being injured for a long time. He is real fighter. He has less supporting player in his team than other great players competeting with him for the award.

  44. robinhood on January 12th, 2009 9:39

For me it best defines its self that this season Ronaldo is not worth to be named fifa player of the year because he has done nothing so far though am a manchester fan I would prefer it on to Messi then followed by cassilas he makes brilliant saves to all clubs played against them thanxs to him

  45. Uche williams on January 13th, 2009 13:00

Wel to me i ‘ll choose loinel messi.i luv his style of play n definitely all about him.ronaldo is a gud player but there are diff between good n best.finally messi is worth the world BEST.

  46. gloria on January 15th, 2009 17:44

as far as last season is concerned, ronaldo deserves to win,i mean for a winger to score 42goals, higher than any striker and he is fast, no you can’t deny him. and he always shows up even in big matches , so stop the hating. i love messi so much. he is ridiculously wonderful , i think he will win the next one. and torres , hmmmm, torres in a yr or 2, mark my words torres will be better than any one in scoring of goals. these three are the best in the world right now.

  47. nawang on January 24th, 2009 6:59

    casillas is the best
no one can beat him. he has the power of faith and strength

  48. Brad Lovell on January 29th, 2009 2:58

Ronaldo to win. he doin good this year so far, did better than anyone else last season, and just look at his trademark footwork! I dont see how kaka or torres or even ronaldinho could match that.

  49. Brad Lovell on February 4th, 2009 2:42

Dipo u forgot to mention Ronny’s footwork, since messi could never do that.. hes a lousy spanish fascist/rookie footballer.

  50. alieu on March 21st, 2009 12:18

messi and ronaldo, oh my God. those two people are like day and night. compairing messi and ronaldo is equal to an insult for messi. ronaldo is just a shadow of messi, please don’t compare them cos that is a treasonable crime.

  51. chowda p on May 25th, 2009 8:42

ronaldo is by fra the best breating footballer, messi again settle for second spot.hala
