Ronaldo: Neymar too good for Brazil

Brazil legend Ronaldo has urged compatriot Neymar to consider a move to one of Europe’s elite clubs.

The 21-year-old, currently with Santos, is one of the most sought-after talents in world football and has reportedly courted the interest of Bayern Munich and Barcelona – the latter of which are believed to be leading the hunt for the striker’s signature.

But so far Neymar has opted to remain in his homeland and is determined to do so until after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Ronaldo, however, believes Neymar needs to consider a move if he is to fulfil his potential, saying he has too much potential to remain in South America.

“Neymar is undoubtedly an excellent player. He is going to be one of the best in the world when he decides to play in Europe. He is too talented to be limited only to Brazil,” he said in an interview with Sports Spectacular.

“He has had several proposals from clubs abroad, but he renewed his contract with Santos. Ideally the best time to leave for Europe would be before the World Cup in 2014.

“It would make him more mature and he would have more experience to lead Brazil.”
