Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been ruled out of this weekend’s league match against Sevilla after suffering a sprained ankle, the club said on Saturday.
“Even though the Portuguese player tried to be ready for the match his ankle has not fully recovered,” Real said on its website.
The Portuguese star, bought from Manchester United last summer for a world record 94 million euros, was injured in Real’s 3-0 defeat of Marseille in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Ronaldo scored twice in the match to bring his total to nine goals in seven games for the Spanish club.
