Ronaldo rejects contract speculation

Cristiano Ronaldo has moved to refute rumours that he has signed a new contract at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese forward joined the Spanish giants in 2009 from Manchester United, helping them to a Copa del Rey crown in 2011 and the La Liga title in 2012.

Madrid fell short of expectations last season, with manager Jose Mourinho parting company with the club after a campaign in which they finished 15 points behind Barcelona and were knocked out in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Despite those disappointments, speculation has been rife that Ronaldo is to extend his stay at the Bernabeu and agree to a new five-year deal.

However, the 28-year-old has been quick to stress that the reports surrounding his future at the club are incorrect.

“All the news about my renewal with Real Madrid are false,” he posted on his Twitter account.

Ronaldo, who has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and a return to Old Trafford, made 55 appearances for Real last term, scoring 55 goals.
