(GSM) – Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has opted against taking Wayne Rooney with the team on their away trip at Everton’s Goodison Park.

The England striker has been under the media spotlight following the publication of lurid allegations over his private life.

Rooney has been always welcomed with a white-hot reception when he returns to his former ground and it will only get louder tomorrow.

But it is now known that Rooney will neither be in Ferguson’s first XI nor on the bench for this tie.
