Rooney linked with China switch

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is enduring a difficult season both at international and club level, which saw him lose his starting berth under Gareth Southgate and Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese tactician has initially claimed he will not give up on the experienced forward who has long been irreplaceable in the first team, but the latest reports from The Guardian suggest that Jose Mourinho has changed his mind and that he is ready to sell Wayne Rooney as he can’t guarantee him minutes at Old Trafford this season.

Wayne Rooney could be offered a surprise exit route from Manchester, England and Europe for that matter as former England boss Sven Goran-Eriksson is said to be ready to submit a mega-money proposal for Rooney to join Shangai SIPG.

China has made huge steps towards making its football league a favourable destination mostly due to extremely lucrative deal and Wayne Rooney’s potential arrival to Shanghai would be no different.

Shanghai SIPG are apparently prepared to take Rooney on an £80 million deal that was already on the table almost a year ago.
