Fiorentina forward Giuseppe Rossi believes his team have what it takes to win the Serie A title in the near future.

The club have not won the title since 1968/69, but the 26-year-old feels they could enjoy domestic success again shortly.

Rossi also said Serie A is more competitive than other European leagues such as La Liga.

“I believe Fiorentina could win the title again someday,” Rossi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Serie A is not like La Liga, where Barcelona and Real Madrid always dominate. There’s more balance in Italy. Teams like Fiorentina, Napoli, Lazio and Roma can all win the Scudetto as well.”

The former Manchester United attacker praised team-mate Borja Valero for his tactical awareness.

“In football, people generally notice tall players first, but there are also guys with normal physique who have an extraordinary tactical awareness,” Rossi said.

“Players who already know how to move and what to do before they even get the ball. Borja is one of those guys.”

Valero joined Fiorentina from Villarreal in 2012 and has since become a key player for the Serie A outfit.
