Jerome Rothen remains in France as he is being treated for swine flu meaning he will not play any part in Saturday’s Scottish Premier League game against Aberdeen.
He contracted the illness while back in his homeland and Rangers boss Walter Smith says there is no chance of infection spreading among the rest of the squad.
The 31-year-old, who is on a year long loan from Paris based side Paris St. Germain, has made only two appearances for the Rangers this season.
Better news for Rangers is the return of Steven Naismith ahead of the trip to Pittodrie, after he missed the midweek defeat to Stuttgart with hamstring and calf injuries.
Longer-term casualties Maurice Edu and Kirk Broadfoot are back in training and are both nearing a return to the first team.
