Rubin Kazan beat Dinamo Moscow 1-0 in a match that may have decided this season’s championship in Russia.
The teams began this clash with Rubin in first place and Dinamo in second, at six points from the leaders. A Dinamo win would mean a remaining gap of three points, which would leave everything open for the remaining nine rounds.
But the match in Kazan saw its deciding goal after just two minutes. Ukrainian Sergey Rebrov scored and Dinamo were unable to find their way back into the game.
Rubin are now nine points clear and could – in theory – drop one point per remaining match and still win the championship.
Dinamo have to fight for their second place, with a large amount of clubs following at just a few points.
