Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has told striker Mario Gomez to let actions speak louder than words after criticising the player’s recent dissidence.

Gomez has complained about his lack of action in recent games, questioning coach Louis van Gaal’s decisions to replace him with the likes of Thomas Muller and Luca Toni and leave him on the bench for their Champions League clash with Maccabi Haifa.

But Rummenigge told the Welt am Sonntag newspaper that he would prefer Gomez to keep his mouth shut and turn his frustration into positive energy on the field.

“I spoke with his agent a few days ago and told him to advise Mario to stop immediately with his complaining or misjudging things in any way,” said Rummenigge.

“When you play for FC Bayern, you have got to work hard and give it your best.”

Nevertheless, Rummenigge is certain Gomez will come through this rough patch and pay back the 30million euros Bayern spent for him in the summer.

“He will not only score goals, but he will play some fantastic football,” he predicted.

“At Bayern Munich, it is all about winning the battle which is in every game.”
