Albirex Niigata moved to second in the Singapore S.League with a 1-0 win at Balestier Khalsa on Tuesday.

Japanese midfielder Shingo Suzuki scored the only goal 10 minutes from time to earn Albirex their first win in five matches.

Geylang International, beaten only once in their past five matches, continued their impressive run after a dismal start with a surprise 2-1 home win over third-placed Tanjong Pagar.

Algerian midfielder Kamel Ramdani gave the visitors the lead after just three minutes but Geylang fought back strongly to complete the scoring by half-time.

Defender Jozef Kaplan equalised in the 26th minute before Singapore midfielder Muhammad Yasi bin Hanapi scored what proved to be the eventual winner on the stroke of half-time.
