Samp chief Marotta dismisses Juve link

(GSM) – Sampdoria sporting director Giuseppe Marotta has insisted he will be staying at the club after reports linked him with a move to Turin giants Juventus.

While, admitting that there had been an offer from Juventus last summer, but the man who was responsible in bringing talismanic forward Antonio Cassano to the club has maintained that he is happy at Sampdoria.

“It is true that last season I could have gone,” Marotta told Il Corriere della Sera. “During the summer I was in contact with the Old Lady’s Board as they were set to offer me a job.

“But at the end I decided to stay in Genova because I am happy here. The same will happen again this summer because my future is at Doria. “The Garrone family is happy with my work and at Samp I feel fully satisfied.”

Of the enigmatic Cassano, Marotta said: “Cassano was a gamble and as it stands now we can say without shadow of doubt that it was a winning one. Antonio is a great talent and at this club the talent is always at the service of the team.”
