Sampdoria fail in Wilshere bid

Arsenal have rejected and offer from Sampdoria for midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to the Express.

The England international is back at the Emirates Stadium after a season-long loan spell with Bournemouth and his future with Gunners remains a subject of much speculation.

He has entered the final year of his contract with the North London club, though they will hold out for a higher fee if they are to sell him on a permanent basis.

He played twenty-seven times for the Cherries last season with his final appearance the two hundredth of his professional career.

Prior to last season, he had played one hundred and fifty-nine times for Arsenal while he also had a loan spell with Bolton Wanderers in 2010.

Internationally, he has been capped thirty-four times for his country, scoring two goals, and was part of the squads that attended the 2014 World Cup and the European Championships two years later.
