Palermo have confirmed the reappointment of Giuseppe Sannino after Gian Piero Gasperini was sacked for the second time this season.

Sannino was removed from his position by eccentric owner Maurizio Zamparini after just three games of the campaign, but has been brought back to the club with them five points from safety in the Serie A table.

The Sicilian outfit have 10 matches remaining to avoid relegation, and Sannino has been handed the task of assuring their survival.

“I feel ready and I also believe in salvation. I need to do my job with the passion that I still have,” he told the club’s website.

Sannino becomes the 27th appointment since 2002 and the fourth since the start of this season for the Rosanero, with Gasperini also having had two spells with the club, his second stint lasting only two games.

Sannino’s first match back in charge will be a trip to San Siro to take on AC Milan on Sunday.
