Schalke linked to Siem de Jong

Voetbal International is reporting that Schalke are keeping close tabs on Ajax captain Siem de Jong.

The Miners may have just extended the contract of star midfielder Julian Draxler, but that doesn’t mean it is certain that he will remain at the club.

Should Schalke receive an offer they cannot refuse for the Germany international, they will try and replace him with Ajax midfielder Siem de Jong.

The 24-year-old looks set to leave the Amsterdammers after six years as a first team player and Germany could be his next destination.

His younger brother Luuk plays for Borussia M’gladbach and it appears Siem de Jong is set for a switch to Bundesliga as well.

The talented footballer has been in scintillating form over the last couple of years, bagging no less than 47 Eredivisie goals in last four seasons.

It appears the time has come for him to leave the Netherlands for a top European league and Schalke seem to be leading the chase for his signature.
