Schalke star duo set to stay

Sport Bild is reporting that Schalke stars Julian Draxler and Jefferson Farfan will not be leaving the club in the summer transfer window.

Both players had been linked with summer exits, but it appears the club officials have managed to persuade them to remain for at least one more season.

Schalke have all but secured another Champions League qualification and that seems to be enough incentive for the star duo to remain at Veltins Arena.

“If nothing extraordinary happens, Julian (Draxler) will stay with us,” Schalke chief Clemens Tonnies explained to Sport Bild.

Tonnies moved to reveal that Jefferson Farfan would be staying put as well in spite of the reports suggesting otherwise.

Julian Draxler, 20, has struggled for form this season and he has only managed one goal and six assists in 23 Bundesliga fixtures.

Despite missing a big chunk of the league campaign through injury, Jefferson Farfan has left little to be desired with his performances, scoring 9 goals and producing 5 assists in 19 league games.
