Schalke to make Goretzka their highest paid footballer ever

German media outlet Bild understands that Schalke are preparing a mega money contract for star midfielder Leon Goretzka.

The 22-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season, with clubs like Bayern Munich, Juventus and Barcelona hot on his trail.

But, while everybody expects Goretzka to leave for greener pastures, Schalke are ready to make one final attempt to keep hold of their star player.

Namely, Bild claims that the Miners are ready to make the attacking midfielder the highest paid footballer in history of the club.

This basically means that if he accepts, Goretzka will be earning more than €7 million per campaign, which is the amount Klaas Jan Huntelaar was making before leaving for Ajax.

The talented footballer appears to have already secured his place in Germany’s World Cup squad, having scored 3 goals on the road to the 2017 Confederations Cup title and as many in five 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
