Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger feels his team is getting stronger after easing past Netherlands 2-1 at Euro 2012 on Wednesday.

The Bayern Munich stalwart was not always firing on all cylinders during his side’s opening game, a 1-0 victory against Portugal, but set up both Mario Gomez goals against the Oranje.

Speaking in the wake of the match, Schweinsteiger admitted that overcoming Bert van Marwijk’s men was an easier task than beating Portugal, due in part to an all-round improvement in performance.

“It was not easy to win against Portugal,” he told ZDF. “We played well there as well, even if it wasn’t so impressive going forward.

“The victory against Netherlands was connected with a lot of work, and I think we did well.

“Bastian Schweinsteiger was also there in the match against Portugal, but I was more attached to the defence then. Today I had more space going forward.

“Portugal was good, but today was better.”

Schweinsteiger went on to state that Germany would not be easing up in their final group match against Denmark and that every win was a huge morale boost.

“Every victory is a boost,” Schweinsteiger said. “We’ve done the second step, and we also want to win against Denmark. We have to take things step by step.”

Germany have now won 12 consecutive competitive matches and have a chance to extend that run against Morten Olsen’s men on Sunday.
