Hearts held their nerve to beat Inverness 5-4 on penalties to seal a place in the Scottish Communities League Cup final.

Normal time ended locked at 1-1 after an Andrew Shinnie strike right after half-time was cancelled out by Michael Ngoo in the 66th minute.

After neither side could find a winner in the additional 30 minutes, penalties were needed to determine who would be going to Hampden Park in March.

Hearts didn’t miss a penalty in the shootout with Arsenal loanee Philip Roberts skying the decisive fifth penalty for Caley to send John McGlynn’s side back to Hampden for the second time in a year after they won the Scottish Cup last season.

The Edinburgh side will now face either St Mirren or Celtic in the decider with the two teams set to clash on Sunday.
