Hearts have finally returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premier League with a 2-0 victory over St Johnstone on Tuesday.
Gary Locke’s men ended a six-game winless run, which included five straight losses, with the win at Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh.
Ryan Stevenson struck in the first half before John Sutton’s 83rd-minute goal sealed all three points, lifting Hearts up to 10th, while St Johnstone are fifth.
Both teams enjoyed early chances before Stevenson opened the scoring in the 33rd minute.
The midfielder pounced on a rebound after St Johnstone goalkeeper Alan Mannus could only parry Michael Ngoo’s shot.
The visitors looked the more likely to score in the second half before Sutton ensured Hearts would take all three points.
Ngoo – on loan from Liverpool – caused St Johnstone all sorts of problems and the 20-year-old centred for Sutton to tap in and end Hearts’ miserable run in the league.
