Rangers moved 12 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League with a 3-1 win over Dundee United.

Nikica Jelavic’s double put Rangers in control before Gregg Wylde’s late red card for the home side ended the game on a sour note.

Jelavic headed home from Matt McKay’s cross to score the opener and slotted home from the penalty spot on 63 minutes following Paul Dixon’s foul on Wylde.

Jon Daly made it 2-1 for United but their hope of a comeback was short lived with Garry Kenneth putting the ball into his own net as it finished 3-1.

Bottom-placed Inverness stunned Kilmarnock 6-3 at Rugby Park with Andrew Shinnie helping himself to a hat-trick.

Shinnie cancelled out Dean Shiels’ opener to make it 1-1 at half-time before the match exploded to life.

Goals from Shinnie either side of Jonny Hayes’ strike completed his hat-trick and put Inverness up 4-1 on the hour mark.

Gregory Tade bagged a brace for the visitors and Shinnie scored a fourth before Shiels’ second, from the penalty spot, made it 6-2.

Paul Heffernan’s tricky back heel made it 6-3 late on in an enthralling encounter that saw seven second-half goals.

Austin McCann’s goal inside three minutes was all that separated Dunfermline and Hibernian as the Pars went on to win 1-0 at Easter Road.

Andy Kirk almost added another for Dunfermline in the 36th minute but put his shot wide.

St Mirren played out a goalless yet entertaining draw with Hearts in Paisley.

Hearts goalkeeper Marian Kello made a string of saves in the first half while St Mirren’s Steven Thompson went closest in the second half, his shot hitting the inside of the Hearts bar but failing to cross the line.
