Arsene Wenger must reinstate Alexandre Lacazette to the Arsenal starting line-up for the north London derby, according to David Seaman.

Record signing Lacazette has been left out of the starting XI for Arsenal’s big Premier League clashes against Manchester City and Liverpool this season, matches the Gunners lost.

Arsenal scored just one goal in both of those clashes, Lacazette coming off the bench to give them a glimmer of hope against City before the international break.

They went on to lose that game 3-1 but Seaman was impressed by the former Lyon striker – who scored twice in France’s 2-2 draw with Germany on Wednesday

On Thursday, Wenger insisted he “completely” trusts Lacazette despite omitting him for two of the biggest games of the campaign.

Seaman hopes that means the 26-year-old will start when Arsenal host Tottenham on Saturday, with the Gunners looking to move within a point of their fierce rivals.

“I think it’s time, I think that he’s shown what he can do now,” Seaman told Omnisport on behalf of Tag Heuer.

“Preferably down the middle, that’s where he likes to play.

“For me he is an Ian Wright-type player, he is a natural finisher. As soon as he gets a half chance he hits it and it doesn’t just trickle in, it flies in the goal.

“He’s definitely hitting the net, and as he’s shown over the international break he can do it at that level too, so for me get him in and play him straight down the middle.”

David Seaman was speaking on behalf of TAG Heuer to promote the TAG Heuer Premier League Pressure Test. TAG Heuer is the Official Timekeeping Partner of the Premier League.
