Udinese and Genoa are interested in signing Valenciennes midfielder Carlos Sanchez, according to the player’s agent.
Colombia international Sanchez, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been linked with a move to Serie A since mid-2011.
Valenciennes are keen to cash in on the South American during the January transfer window, rather than lose him on a free transfer when his contract expires.
“Udinese and Genoa are interested but we are still in the preliminary stages,” Sanchez’s agent Andrea Banfi told Goal.com.
“There have been no negotiations but he has always been liked at Friuli (Udinese) and the Ligurians (Genoa) have been interested for a while now.”
“Valenciennes will try to sell him in these last days of the market, but that will not be easy.”
“There is so much interest in France and, from what I’ve been told, also in Portugal, where there is an even greater interest in the player than in Italy.”
Sanchez, who has been capped 25 times by his country, arrived at Valenciennes from Uruguay’s Club Atletico River Plate in 2007.
