Serie A Week 21 Roundup: AC Milan Fall to Napoli, European Race Continues

Juventus vs Lazio

Juventus defeated Lazio 2-0 in a dominating performance.

The race for Europe continued this week in the Serie A, all of the top eight teams emerging victorious, besides in the contests where they were facing each other. Here’s the recap of this week in the league.

Milan vs Napoli

Milan fell to Napoli in a thrilling contest thanks to two early goals from the Partenopei’s wingers, Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon. Juraj Kucka was able to pull one back for the hosts, but Napoli maintained their lead despite Milan’s constant pressure to close out the game.

Juventus vs Lazio

Juventus dispatched Lazio quite comfortably, two goals coming in the first twenty minutes from both of their Argentinian strikers. Paolo Dybala put them up 1-0 in the fifth minute, and Gonzalo Higuain made it two just eleven minutes later.

Chievo vs Fiorentina

Fiorentina continued to impress with a dominating performance against Chievo. Cristian Tello opened up the scoring in the eighteenth minute, and Khouma Babacar made it two with a penalty in the fifty-second. Federico Chiesa topped it off with a goal in the fourth minute of injury time.

Palermo vs Inter

Pioli’s men continued to win even without the coach himself who was sent off for protesting to the referee. It was a match full of red cards; three were given to Ansaldi, Pioli, and Gazzi. Joao Mario broke the deadlock in the sixty-fifth minute, and they rode that goal to victory.

Roma vs Cagliari

Edin Dzeko scored again to put the hosts up 1-0 in the fifty-fifth minute, and that proved to be the game winner. Roma are trying to creep up on Juventus, but neither of the two sides are losing.

Atalanta vs Sampdoria

Atalanta moved up to sixth place with a 1-0 win over Sampdoria. Andrea Petagna won a penalty in the fifty-fourth minute, and Alejandro Gomez stepped up and converted it to win the game for the hosts.

Bologna vs Torino

Just a week after their collapse to Milan, Torino lost to Bologna 0-2. They failed to capitalize on their chances, and a Dzemaili brace sealed the deal.

Empoli vs Udinese

The game was mostly uneventful up until the eighty-second minute when Empoli’s Mchedlidze headed the ball into the net.

Pescara vs Sassuolo

This one was exciting. In just below a minute, Matri scored to give Sassuolo the lead. Bahebeck would equalize for Pescara, but two goals from Pellegrini and Matri sealed the deal for Sassuolo.

Genoa vs Crotone

This one ended in a stalemate, with the two sides alternating goals, Simeone and Ocampos providing the goals for the hosts, and Ceccherini and Ferrari scoring for the visitors.
