A scorching long-range goal from Boukary Drame has inspired Chievo to a 2-0 win over Napoli, allowing Juventus to extend their lead in Serie A.

Chievo scored twice in the first half on Sunday to set up their victory, while Napoli extended their winless streak to six games in all competitions after Edinson Cavani missed a second-half penalty.

Drame’s thumping left-foot strike gave Chievo the lead in the 12th minute as he blasted the ball past Napoli goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis from

over 30 metres out.

Chievo made it 2-0 just before half-time when Cyril Thereau brought down Nicolas Frey’s long ball and finished from a tight angle under De Sanctis.

The visitors’ day went from bad to worse in the second half as Cavani’s spot kick was saved by Chievo goalkeeper Christian Puggioni in the 59th minute – Napoli’s Uruguayan striker extending his goalless streak to eight games for his club.

Napoli’s loss allowed Serie A leaders Juventus to move nine points clear at the top of the table after Emanuele Giaccherini’s goal in second-half stoppage time saw them beat Catania 1-0.

After dominating the match in Turin, Juventus finally found a way through the visitors’ defence in the 91st minute when Giaccherini controlled a loose ball in Catania’s penalty area and thumped it into the net.

Paul Pogba was the creator, bringing down a high ball on the right-hand side of the penalty area and then chipping it to the back post, causing panic in Catania’s defence, which Giaccherini took advantage of.

Parma was the biggest winner of the day with Amauri scoring a hat-trick in a 4-1 demolition of Torino.

After a goalless first half, Torino opened the scoring in the 56th minute but Parma produced a breathtaking final 13 minutes to destroy the visitors with Amauri scoring three of the home side’s four goals.

In other results, Cagliari thumped Sampdoria 3-1, Siena triumphed 2-1 in Sicily against Palermo and Atalanta defeated Pescara also 2-1.
