Sevilla eyeing Bayern’s Shaqiri

La Liga high-flyers Sevilla are keeping close tabs on Bayern Munich starlet Xherdan Shaqiri, according to Sport Bild.

Los Rojiblancos are preparing for life without Ivan Rakitic, who is almost certain to join a top European side in the summer, and they see the Swiss winger as a good long-term replacement.

Sevilla have been monitoring the player’s development this season and they are ready to step up their interest in his services.

The 22-year-old joined the Bavrians from FC Basel in the summer of 2012, but he has failed to nail down a regular starting berth at Alianz Arena.

Shaqiri has already expressed his desire to leave the club in search of first team football unless the situation improves and Bayern could decide to cash in on him at the end of the current campaign.

Having closed the gap behind Champions League positions in La Liga to three points, Sevilla face top 4 rivals Athletic Club at the New San Mames, and los Rojiblancos are 14/5 to emerge victorious.
