Sevilla to sign Martin Zeegelaar

El Desmarque has suggested that Sevilla have all but agreed a deal for Sporting CP full-back Marvin Zeegelaar.

The Dutch defender will provide competition for Sergio Escudero on the left after Jordan Amavi’s move to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan fell through due to a failed medical.

Zeegelaar was not in Sporting CP’s squad for the Champions League play-off tie against FC Basel, which is enough to suggest he is nearing a summer exit.

The 27-year-old has so far represented Ajax, Excelsior, Elazigspor, Blackpool, Rio Ave and Sporting CP, with a two-year spell with the Lions the highlight of his career so far.

Zeegelaar now gets a chance to play at the highest level with his solid showings in Portugal also seeing the left-back break into the Netherlands national team set-up.
