Championship title favourites Derby County are on the verge of re-signing Jason Shackell from Burnley, according to the Mail Online.

The thirty-one year old spent the 2011/12 campaign with the Rams, before being sold to the Clarets for a fee of around £1.1m.

During three years at Turf Moor, Shackell racked up one hundred and thirty-six appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and was named captain shortly after arriving at the club.

The East Midlands side have also signed Andreas Wiemann, Alex Pearce, Chris Baird and Scott Carson.

Having ended last season in eighth place, the can be backed at 7/1 to finish first next May.
