Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri is expecting a tough season as the Bavarian giants attempt to replicate last term’s success.
Bayern swept the board in German football last season, winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and the DFL Supercup.
They also claimed the highest honour in European football with a UEFA Champions League triumph over rivals Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern lost this season’s Supercup to Dortmund last month, going down 4-2, and have now turned their attention to the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
However, Shaqiri does not expect it to be easy.
“The other teams have upgraded, brought in good players,” Shaqiri told sport1.de.
“Therefore it certainly won’t be an easy season for us, other (sides) are keen to play in the top positions, but we really want to win the championship and the DFB-Pokal and go as far as possible in the Champions League.
“The games during the pre-season should not be overrated, even if of course you do not want to lose against Dortmund. It is crucial that we show a good performance when the season opens, and get many points, like last year.
“We are a top club and need to be able to show that. We have the potential to do so.”
