Itay Shechter has paid tribute to the Swansea City fans as his loan spell at the club comes to an end.

The striker was signed on loan from Bundesliga 2 side Kaiserslautern in August, and will return to the club in June when his deal finishes.

The Israel international has appeared 18 times for the Welsh club this season, and was happy to be part of the side that secured a top-10 finish and the League Cup.

“Since the day I arrived, I have been treated so well,” he said.

“It helps you settle so much better when you arrive at a new club like this. I’ve enjoyed being part of this squad. We won the cup, finished ninth in the Premier League – it has been an amazing season.

“It was great for me to be part of the lap of honour too (on the final day). It was a special day.

“I wanted to show respect to the supporters because they have been behind the team – and myself – all season, no matter what the result.

“If we win, draw or lose – it doesn’t matter because they always make so much noise and get behind the team.

“The season has been amazing for the club and the fans, and I have had an amazing time at Swansea too.”
