Liverpool are preparing to release England Under-21 starlet Jonjo Shelvey, with Swansea leading the chase for his signature.
Premier League rivals West Ham and Norwich are also interested in Shelvey, who impressed has impressed in patches in his 47 appearances for the Reds.
Shelvey, though, only started twice in 2013 for Liverpool, and the Welsh club are interested in the 21-year-old – although it is not clear whether they could afford the estimated six-million-pound fee.
Swansea see the midfielder as a perfect fit for their quick-passing style, and it is appealing for the player to move to the Liberty Stadium too – given Europa League football is on the agenda this term.
Talks between Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and the Swans are underway, and a transfer could be completed as early as Tuesday.
