Sherwood eyes Adebayor reunion

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood is keen to bring in Emmanuel Adebayor as he looks for a replacement for the outgoing Christian Benteke, according to the Telegraph.

Belgium international Benteke is closing in on a £32.5m switch to Liverpool, and the Villa boss has identified Adebayor as the man to fill that void.

The former Arsenal man moved to White Hart Lane, initially on loan in the summer of 2011, and was managed by Sherwood from December 2013 to the end of that season.

During his time with Spurs, the Togo international has made one hundred and six appearances in all competitions, scoring forty-one times.

Prior to his return to North London, he had a spell with Real Madrid while the thirty-one has also played for Manchester City, Monaco and Metz.

With Fabian Delph having secured a move to Manchester City and Benteke Liverpool –bound, Villa can now be backed at 11/4 to be relegated next May.
